ReviewPro uses a combination of artificial intelligence techniques to deliver precise, reliable results:

Sifters. Sifters are contract-specific algorithms that use Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to identify and flag critical issues or missing terms in your contracts. Each Sifter is trained on thousands of real-world contracts, released to clients when it achieves 95+% accuracy, and continuously improved with expert feedback.

Generative AI. Generative AI automatically applies precise redlines that align exactly with your company's established positions. We tightly control and constrain the AI, so that it operates like an attorney under strict supervision. We measure AI quality using thoroughness, accuracy, and edit fluency—consistently achieving a 95%+ accuracy rating. Together, these advanced AI technologies ensure ReviewPro delivers consistent, attorney-quality results, faster and more reliably than any other solution available.
Our out-of-the-box guidance is written by experienced attorneys who specialize in specific contract types. It’s all overseen by Ken Adams, LegalSifter’s Chief Content Officer and author of A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting. Examples of expert contributors include:
  • Healthcare guidance: Written by Dan Mulholland of Horty Springer, a top health law firm.
  • Software guidance: Created with help from David Tollen, author of The Tech Contracts Handbook.
  • Transportation guidance: Developed by Transaction Expeditors, part of Frost Brown Todd, a leader in truckload transportation law.

Combined Intelligence means pairing artificial intelligence with human expertise. At LegalSifter, we believe an algorithm plus a person is stronger than either alone. That’s why all our products are built on a “human-in-the-loop” approach—designed to combine the speed of AI with the judgment of people. We know neither AI nor humans are perfect, so we build systems that leverage the strengths of both. That’s Combined Intelligence.

A Sifter is a piece of software trained to read text and look for a specific concept. It reads novel language, learns from experience, and improves over time. Our Sifters use machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP), types of AI, along with a number of other advanced search techniques.
Yes. We use advanced machine learning to keep our Sifters improving.
On average, our F1 accuracy score is 95%, with our latest Sifters at 97% or higher. These F1 scores materially outpace human performance. That doesn't mean that the Sifters are "smarter" than people, but it does mean that a collection of Sifters is more likely to accurately classify and analyze contract concepts than a human.
Yes. Sifters are consistently improved with the help of Sifter Trainer reports and focused research and development efforts from our Data Science and Content Development teams. When we started in 2013, our Sifters were performing at F1 levels around 90%. Now they exceed 97%. We will continue to improve the performance of our Sifters as our user base grows and our technology advances.
Yes. Just like people, our Sifters make errors. Clients and team members reportSifter errors through our Sifter Trainer, a feature of both LegalSifter ReviewPro and LegalSifter Organize. Once our Content Development team confirms the accuracy of the report, we will retrain the Sifter that made the error within 5-10 business days and release the improved Sifter back into production.
Yes. We use advanced NLP in our Sifters. The technology, among other things, allows our Sifters to read and understand novel language that they have never seen before. The ability of Sifters to read and understand novel language is critical in contracts, as most agreements have unique phrasing.
The Sifter Library includes a description of the Sifters that are available to our clients today. The Sifter Library is updated weekly.
Our Sifters continuously improve with crowdsourced feedback from our clients, partners, and team members. Sifter Trainer is a feature of LegalSifter Review for users to report Sifter errors. Once our Content Development team confirms the accuracy of a Sifter Trainer report, we will retrain the Sifter that made the error within 5-10 business days and release the improved Sifter back into production.

Under no circumstances will your contracts be disclosed or identifiable to any third party, other than subcontractors involved in Sifter research and development. Without your consent, we will not use your contracts, other than as needed to provide technical support on your account.

We combine advanced artificial intelligence with human expertise to review and validate the data extracted from your contracts.
A Field is is a type of data, such as an address, termination of convenience (yes/silent), contract title, counterparty name, etc.

Clients typically ask for four types of data from their documents:

  • Standard Fields ("Name, rank, and serial number") Almost every client wants key details like party names, contract dates, renewal terms, and whether the contract is fully executed.
  • Legal Terms Many want to understand legal clauses such as force majeure (including epidemics), supplier indemnity, assignment rights, and liability limits.
  • Business-Specific Details Clients often look for info unique to their business—like product versions, pricing, or delivery obligations tied to specific offerings.
  • Exploding Fields Some contracts include large, complex tables that vary in size. These "exploding fields" can range from 4 data points to 400, making them unpredictable to extract.
Securely transfer your contracts to us, and we’ll work with you to define the key data fields to extract. We’ll deliver your contract data in a Sifting File for your review and approval. Once approved, our team will migrate all documents and data into your contract repository.
Yes. We will extract your data and put it into our CLM, LegalSifter Control.
Not yet. Our AI currently supports English only.
Our system can extract data from PDFs, Word documents, and most image files. It currently does not support data extraction from Excel files, PowerPoint presentations, or email messages.
In those cases, our team will separate the documents so that each file contains only one legal agreement. Once that’s done, we can extract the data.
COaaS is a full-service contract management solution where LegalSifter provides the people, processes, and expertise needed to keep your CLM running smoothly so your team doesn’t have to manage it alone.
Unlike other CLM providers, we go beyond software. We act as an extension of your team, offering hands-on support, expert guidance, and continuous optimization.
We complement your existing team, handling tasks like workflow design, user management, and reporting so they can focus on higher-value strategic work instead of system maintenance.
Timelines vary based on complexity, but our structured onboarding and industry expertise ensure an efficient implementation with minimal disruption.
If you’re a LegalSifter Control or Contract Logix client, contact us to schedule a consultation and see how we can streamline your CLM operations.
