Kevin Miller
Chief Executive Officer
Kevin joined LegalSifter in 2016 and has over 20 years of experience in sales and operational leadership in high-growth companies. Before LegalSifter, he spent 9 years at Industrial Scientific Corporation as a senior leader and chief operating officer, where he drove business growth and transformation in the global industrial safety industry. He also spent 6 years in a variety of roles in the global sourcing and procurement solution industry.
Kevin holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, a Master of Business Administration from the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Davidson College. Kevin is also a licensed, inactive member of the State Bar of Ohio.
Lars Mahler
Chief Science Officer
Lars co-founded LegalSifter while completing his graduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University in 2013. His goal was to make legal services more accessible by creating artificial intelligence tools to help legal professionals lower their cost to serve. As Chief Science Officer, Lars is responsible for our AI platform, as well as the development of our Sifters. He manages our Data Science team and our Sifter Factory. Prior to LegalSifter, Lars honed his expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, and mining unstructured data with companies including Accenture, Wells Fargo, Cardinal Health, and other Fortune 500 companies.
Lars holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Spanish from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Todd Yocum
Chief Operating Officer
Todd joined LegalSifter in 2021 and serves our development teams (data science, content development, and software engineering), sifting services, security/IT, and quality. Prior to LegalSifter, most recently served as the VP of global product development at a global instrumentation company focused on the HVAC market. He has also successfully served in plant management, senior operations, and product development leadership roles at companies owned by Teledyne and Bayer.
Todd has professional competencies in lean and six sigma, holds an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University, and holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Engineering from West Virginia University.
Ken Adams
Chief Content Officer
Ken has established an international reputation as the leading expert on contract language. He is the author of the bestselling A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting, published by the American Bar Association. Ken gives public and in-house Drafting Clearer Contracts seminars globally, and he consults with companies looking to improve their contract templates. Ken writes the Adams on Contract Drafting blog, which the ABA Journal added to its Blawg 100 Hall of Fame in 2015. As one commentator noted recently, “Ken is in a class by himself among gurus on how to say what needs to be said in a contract.”
Ken is responsible for applying legal expertise to LegalSifter’s products. He helps determine the LegalSifter software roadmap, coordinates the input of subject-matter experts, and serves as a member of the leadership team.
Ross Friedman
Chief Financial Officer
Ross joined LegalSifter in 2024 and is responsible for all of the company’s financial functions including accounting, audit, treasury, corporate finance, and investor relations. Prior to LegalSifter, Ross was CFO of a digital media company and a SaaS company where he partnered with leadership teams to lead strategic growth initiatives, drive a data-based decision-making culture, and build high-performing teams. Over his 20-year career, he has also served in various finance and accounting roles in both public and private companies.
Ross holds a Master of Arts degree in International Trade and Investment Policy from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Tennessee.
Trina Thompson
Senior Vice President, Services
Trina joined LegalSifter in 2024 and is responsible for all service operations including the client success and sifting services teams. Before joining LegalSifter, she spent 18 years in the financial services industry where she held global roles aimed at delivering client satisfaction while driving process efficiencies at scale. Trina also worked in start-up organizations within the employer benefits and financial care and wellness spaces over the past 10 years.
Trina‘s background includes studies in business and behavioral psychology at Arizona State University and music performance at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
Tom Henson
Senior Vice President, Product Management & Marketing
Tom joined LegalSifter in 2023 and is responsible for marketing and connecting client needs with our solution capabilities and roadmap. He has over 30 years of experience in scaling growth-stage companies, bringing innovative integrated solutions to market, and building world-class teams. Before LegalSifter, he led marketing, product management, and development of solutions that integrate IoT devices, SaaS software, and services at companies in industries including industrial safety, clinical data management, and supply chain.
Tom holds an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University.
Karen Meyer
Senior Vice President, Client Success
Karen joined LegalSifter in 2024 to lead Client Success as part of the company’s acquisition of ContractLogix where she was CEO. Karen led the transformation of ContractLogix’s product consolidation strategy as well as the implementation of client success and growth models. Prior, Karen led Upland Software’s Global Customer Success organization. She led commercial and customer engagement and contracting teams for over a dozen products and played a critical role in driving Upland’s M&A and integration strategies leading to high growth and strong customer retention.
Karen also held product and client executive leadership roles at Qvidian, a proposal and RFP automation provider, leading to the acquisition of the company in 2017. She has also held prior roles at Manulife Financial, eHealth and Imagine Software.
Tim Donaghy
Vice President, Technical Sifting Services
Tim has been with LegalSifter since 2024. As the Vice President of Technical Shifting Services, he leads the product and technology direction for the company.
Tim is a well-known industry expert, speaker, and author in the field of contract lifecycle management. Before Legalsifter, Tim was the CTO for Contract Logix where he crafted the vision for what has become an industry-leading SaaS platform. He has also held senior marketing, product management, sales, and technology leadership roles at Intellisoft Group and Contour Design; and in the U.S. Navy where he served on nuclear submarines.
Suzanne Ewing
Vice President, Sifting Services
Suzanne joined LegalSifter in 2018 as a member of the leadership team. She provides expert advice to the sifting services team on the structure of complex contract information and project designs. She has extensive experience in designing and applying legal technology tools to solve client problems. Before LegalSifter, Suzanne spent nearly 30 years at Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney as a shareholder and practicing attorney representing lenders and corporate borrowers in complex financings.
Suzanne holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from The Catholic University of America.
Buddy Broussard
Vice President, Solution Architecture
Buddy joined LegalSifter in 2021 serving as the leader of sifting services and helping to design the future of our contract-administration-as-a-service offering. He is currently responsible for our solution architecture team, ensuring well-designed client solutions, innovative AI models, and contract solution standards. Buddy has over three decades of contract experience, including nearly 9 years in project management and contract leadership roles in BP's Upstream Procurement & Supply Management group. He also served as a commercial manager at FMC Technologies, where he built and led a commercial management team accountable for developing, negotiating, and managing the performance of contracts with strategic customers.
Buddy holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English & Philosophy from Rice University.
Amber Miles
Vice President, Controller
Amber has served as LegalSifter’s controller and finance leader since 2020. Prior to LegalSifter, Amber progressed her career in a variety of fiscal leadership positions at PNC Bank, Rent-A-Way, American Eagle Outfitters, and several other large companies.
Amber holds a Juris Doctor from Duquesne University, a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Gannon University.
Julie Prex
Vice President, Marketing
Julie joined LegalSifter in 2024, bringing extensive experience in B2B marketing, leadership, and business growth. She has worked with companies at all stages, from high-growth startups like FORT Robotics and VETRO FiberMap to more established businesses including Wesco and Industrial Scientific. Throughout her career, Julie has focused on building marketing strategies that drive brand awareness, generate leads, and strengthen customer relationships.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Science from Rowan University and an MBA from Centenary University.
Eben Adams
Vice President, Growth – Insurance, Education, Legal
Eben joined LegalSifter in 2015 and is responsible for growing the business and serving clients primarily in the insurance, education, and legal industries. He has more than twenty years of entrepreneurial experience in growth, partnerships, strategy, and leadership in the Pittsburgh region. He has served on several boards in the local area and launched Bayard Capital Partners, a private equity search fund.
Eben holds an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
Maggie Frey
Vice President, Growth – Technology
Maggie joined LegalSifter in 2017 and is responsible for growing the business and serving clients primarily in technology-driven industries. Prior to LegalSifter, she spent 13 years in supply chain management including implementation leadership, strategic sourcing, and risk management positions at FreeMarkets (now SAP/Ariba) and Medrad (now Bayer).
Maggie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh.
Steve Piotraczk
Vice President, Growth – Industrial
Steve joined LegalSifter in 2023 and is responsible for growing the business and serving clients primarily in industrial segments. He is an accomplished sales executive with primary experience in sales management, building sales teams, go-to-market strategies, and account development. Steve is experienced in selling enterprise solutions that include SaaS software, specialized services, and technology products. Prior to LegalSifter, he was a key member of the leadership teams at Argano (SAP), Energy Services Group (ESG), Industrial Scientific, SAP, and other fast-growing software and services companies.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ferris State University.
Laura Taylor
Vice President, Growth – Healthcare
Laura joined LegalSifter in 2018 and is responsible for growing the business and serving clients primarily in healthcare industries. She has over twenty years of experience in the areas of operations, sourcing, procurement, and strategic planning. Before LegalSifter, Laura most recently served as vice president of operations at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, where she was responsible for delivering strong business performance, building processes and efficiencies, and leading organizational change.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Paralegal Certification from Duquesne University.
Lisa Treanor
Vice President, Growth – Insurance, Education, Legal
Lisa joined LegalSifter in 2020 where she has been responsible for managing client onboarding and software configuration for both their before and after-you-sign needs and now helps lead our efforts in growing and serving clients in the insurance, education, and legal industries. Prior to LegalSifter, Lisa had years of experience practicing commercial real estate law at Thacher Proffitt & Wood where she represented banks, investment banks, and insurance companies in complex financing and securitization transactions.
Lisa earned her Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross.

Jim Madden
Chairman
Jim Madden is a Co-CEO & Co-Chair Investment Committee of Carrick Capital Partners where he directly oversees the sourcing and growth of successful software and software-enabled businesses. Together with co-founder Marc McMorris, he co-chairs the investment committee.
Jim is closely involved in the identification, selection and post-investment growth guidance of Carrick’s portfolio companies. Leveraging his deep understanding of sales, operations and corporate governance, Jim works with these companies to create substantial long-term value. Jim is an active member of the boards of several Carrick portfolio companies including DailyPay, Everspring, Exiger, Flatiron School, and LegalSifter. He also serves as the chair of the board of directors of Genpact (NYSE: G)
Jim earned his BBA and a BA from Southern Methodist University. He is devoted to a number of community organizations and is the past chairman of the board of directors of the Hoag Hospital Foundation. In his spare time, Jim is a competitive sailor who races his sailboat “Stark Raving Mad.” He is also an avid downhill skier.

Varun Mehta is the CEO of Factor, the market leader in Integrated Law. Factor serves over 50 of the Fortune 500 / FTSE 100 companies, bringing together the expertise of Traditional Law, and the efficiency of New Law, with the business know-how and integration of In-house legal to deliver complex legal work at scale.
A regular speaker, commentator and author on issues impacting the technology, legal and compliance markets, Varun’s publications can be found in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, The Times (UK), Bloomberg, Inc, Above the Law, Entrepreneur, American Banker, The Lawyer, Inside Counsel, American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel.
Culture and community are integral to Varun’s work. He serves on the board of The India Center Foundation, a New York City-based non-profit organization dedicated to the study and celebration of Indian culture through arts, film, music and dialogue. He is also a founder and board member of Rush-Henrietta Alumni Council.
Steve Unterberger
Director
Steve Unterberger is a Managing Director of Carrick Capital Partners where he is directly involved in providing growth guidance based on his experience scaling successful technology companies.
Steve works with CEOs and executive teams to manage the key drivers of value that help companies become market leaders. He is a metrics-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves collaborator, and a passionate mentor. He has unparalleled experience achieving operational excellence and applying practical, ROI-driven methods for using technology to drive revenue and improve business outcomes. Steve is an active member of the boards of several other Carrick portfolio companies including Bishop Fox, Everspring, Factor Law, Flatiron School, Infrascale, and Renalogic.
Steve earned his BA in economics from The University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. In his spare time, Steve enjoys beach sports, traveling, family time, and re-living his former glory as an LA-based rock and roll guitarist.
